Autonomous test vehicle: BMW I3 with Fraunhofer Institute

Realisation of an autonomously driving test vehicle BMW I3 of the Fraunhofer Institute.

The Schaeffler Paravan Technologie GmbH & Co.KG implemented the fail-safe Space Drive II drive-by-wire system to control the primary functions of accelerator, brake and steering. In addition, the extensive sensor technology was installed in the vehicle. A specially adapted software package was used to implement the communication between the sensors and the Space Drive II system.
